Inferno '09



                                        

 There was hustle-bustle of activity in every nook and corner of the college students rehearsing for various events, dances and skits, banners and festoons being erected, flashlights being put up and many more such interesting things happening around. One could easily guess that the much-awaited fest, Inferno, was round the corner and that each student had stirred into action! The Annual Business fest, Inferno, of Army Institute of Management, Kolkata was held on the 28th February, 2009. The one day extravaganza witnessed an overwhelming and enthusiastic participation from various colleges of the city.

 

 



                                        

LAUNCH PAD

(Marketing event)

Launch Pad was the Marketing event which was sponsored by The Oberoi Group of Hotels. In this event a team comprising of a maximum of three members had to launch a new product. The launch covered all aspects of a real product launch. The products marketed, varied from websites to a virtual boutique and even health cards. The launch was assisted by a presentation. The esteemed judges analysed each feature of the product and questioned the participants on various fronts.

The teams consisted of three members each, they were to find a solution to the case study of a Human resource management crisis of an expanding firm, and the teams had to present the same through a presentation. The event was sponsored by British Council.

The analogy was given to a 'sick' company,wherein the balance sheet of the company was provided to the participating teams,who had to formulate strategies to revive it and give a presentation on the same.It was a challenging task not only for the participants, but also for the jury members to pick out the winners for the event.It was sponsored by Zenith Shoppe

"Beware,computer brains at work!"

The systems event sparked off with teams giving presentations on a topic of their choice,which had to be from either of the following:Wi Fi ,4G technology etc.The wiz brains that were awarded for this event were:

"Test your T-shirt painting talents"

 Just as the name of the event suggests, participants were required to paint their "PASSION" with a dash of colours on a t-shirt .This event was truly the most colourful and it brought out the different colours of "PASSION". 

Creativity and the art of painting were put to test and the judges proudly declared the results. This event was a crowd- puller, one of the reasons being its popular sponsor Planet M

QUIZ

"Tickle your brain"

With the highest number of teams, about 35, participating in this event, the quiz took off in josh, where elimination was the keyword for the quizmaster and sustaining the competition was important for the teams from various colleges. The quizmaster served the participants a palate of mind-boggling, brain-wrecking questions to bring out the best people forward.

"˜The new craze in war games"

 The latest craze that has taken up all game freaks by a storm is Counter Strike. Students, mostly guys, actively participated in this LAN based game and each of the eight teams had to cleverly strategize their move to outdo the opponent. The following teams emerged as winners:

Online share trading

This online virtual share trading game started off four days prior to the fest and continued from the 24th to 27th. Khelostocks.com was the sponsor for this event.

FREAK-O-NOMICS

"Economics personified" 



                                        

This was one of the most exciting events comprising of skit that was to be performed keeping in mind the very contemporary topic- Effects of Recession. After a host of superb rib-tickling performances the judge,ÂProf. K.Guhathakurta, Faculty of AIMK, declared the winners.

Palette-on-Toes

"˜Bring out the dancing streak in you"

All the participating teams brought out the various "Colours" through different dance forms. Some depicted seasons while others performed folk dances. The audience was jam-packed and everybody enjoyed thoroughly. This event was sponsored by Lakme.

These men truly drove the crowd, especially the girls, crazy and sleepless with their voices, drums, guitar and the synthesiser.

The mind-blowing performance by the famous band Insomnia was like icing on the cake that wrapped up Inferno 2009 with a bang!!

The DJ Nite followed the band and was equally enjoyed by one and all. The true spirit of participation, celebration and fervour once again reflected in the annual B-School fest, Inferno 2009.

We hope that in the coming years too, students from various colleges in Kolkata like ISB&M, School of Management Sciences, BESU, George College, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science, Bhawanipore College, etc. and many more, continue to be a part of our fest and make it as enraging as always!!!!
