The day began with the discussion on “CHALLENGES IN INDIA INC.” The main emphasis laid down here was on the challenges Indian companies are – and would be facing in going global. According to Mr. Sur,  “In fact we should now be using the word – glocal –.”

Mr. Sur along with Mr. Choudhary very clearly explained what Indian companies need to do to go global and what factors must be kept in mind to do this. The fact that the companies going global must now have macroscopic vision and microscopic implementation. The main and the most important edge that India has over other developing nations is its cost leadership and quality manpower and that India should effectively use in its flavor.  And we should not forget, It have large number of population speaking language of the business – English.

The second half of the symposium was equally interesting. The topic for the discussion was “MANAGING KNOWLEDGE IS A CHALLENGE TODAY”. The main emphasis was on how to manage knowledge and how to meet this challenge. In knowledge industry where knowledge workers are assets, great care needs to be taken in constantly motivating them and to retain them. Mr. Amitava Sain came out with beautiful and informative presentation on this, which really made the discussion more interesting.

The discussion ended with an open question/answer session; students of AIMK were more inquisitive and satisfied with the answer from those people who are actually implementing whatever they are learning in classroom.
